FalcOS Enterprise Linux Technology Capabilities and Limits

This article provides information regarding the theoretical limits of the operating system. As the core OS is based on AlmaLinux, which in itself is a downstream derivative of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), it inherits and follows the OS family's technological limits.

Minimum general system requirements

FOSEL 10

  • Disk space: 10 GB minimum, 20 GB recommended
  • Memory: 1.5 GiB minimum, 2 GiB recommended

Maximum logical CPUs

We define a local CPU as any schedulable entity, hence, every core/thread in a multicore/thread processor is a logical CPU.

For x86_64 platforms the limit is as follows:

  • FOSEL 9: A maximum of 1792 physical cores (or 8192 logical cores)
  • FOSEL 10: A maximum of 3840 physical cores (or 8192 logical cores)

For ARM (or AArch64) platforms the limit is as follows:

  • FOSEL 9: A maximum of 512 physical cores (or 4096 logical cores)
  • FOSEL 10: A maximum of 512 physical cores (or 4096 logical cores)

Maximum memory (RAM)

For x86_64 platforms the limit is as follows:

  • FOSEL 9: Max 48TB (64TB)
  • FOSEL 10: Max 64TB

For ARM (or AArch64) platforms the limit is as follows:

  • FOSEL 9: Max 1.5TB (256TB)
  • FOSEL 10: Max 1.5TB (256TB)
